Ms Mary Morris is committed to a spiritual belief. That belief begins with a love of God. The love of God is transferred to a study of God’s Word. The bible teaches us what to do. It teaches us to love one another. The bible teaches that we should care about the least of these. Ms Mary Morris has a heart for people. For twenty years she has written to people who were living behind bars. She has compassion for their suffering. She believes that people have great personal power and they can make decisions and choices to change their conditions. People need encouragement, that is why she corresponds with prisoners. One of Ms Mary’s favorite scriptures is: Psalms 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” One of her greatest desires was to visit Africa. God has blessed her. July 2004 she visited South Africa and Swaziland. February 2006 she visited Ghana, West Africa. She toured Egypt in July 2007. Visiting the site of our ancient ancestors gives a totally new meaning to Black History and culture. September of 2007, she took a tour of The People’s Republic of China. Ms Mary retired after teaching for thirty years in the Chicago Public Schools. Being an educator is one of her greatest joys. Unfortunately the four walls of the classroom were no longer able to contain her. She has moved from local to global. The world can experience her questions, thoughts, philosophy, and compassion by reading her book: Young Lions: Challenged to Live Free. |
